The American Presidency is truly a product of liberty. From Washington’s refusal of royal title and the manipulations of Jefferson and Jackson, to the moral fortitude of Lincoln and Reagan’s “shining city on a hill”, and to the often divisive applications of Clinton and Obama, the men we’ve sent to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue have all left their mark on the office. In the end however, the “leader of the free world” will always be a reflection of how we see ourselves in any given generation, and our adherence to the lessons of history will ultimately determine the impact of his or her term(s) in office.
Consequently, there has probably never been a better time for “We the People” to return to the foundational principles of “original intent”. This is not to suggest we ignore the “evolution” if you will, of the three branches of government, but rather that we simply be better students of the true history of this great nation and its providential beginnings. Then and only then may we (vote accordingly) to ensure the long-term benefits of its Constitutional influence on our posterity.
