I heard someone say on a news program today, he was a “force of nature”. I agree. Charlie Kirk bridged the gap between political indoctrination and reality for literally millions of young people across this republic. His level headed, fact based, and non-confrontational approach to debate and freedom of speech, provided a platform oh so lacking in today’s university experience. He was a devoted husband and father who elevated true political debate and championed conversation over conflict. To suggest otherwise is merely proof of ignorance as well as support of everything our Founding Fathers understood was contrary to “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
Charlie quit college as he recognized what was happening on campuses across America. He quickly became involved in the Tea Party movement and later founded “Turning Point USA” in order to provide students, and frankly all Americans, an unapologetic and alternative to the legacy media interpretations of current events. It took off. Charlie’s on campus “Prove Me Wrong” kiosks grew into nation wide events drawing thousands to the “arena of ideas”. Rush Limbaugh even commented on meeting Charlie early in his endeavors, and how he thought Charlie “might be president one day.”
In the end, the times overtook Charlie Kirk, but not his ideas. The shooter succeeded in taking his life, but not his influence and mission. In fact, if the murderer accomplished anything, it was to bring Charlie’s fight to the forefront of all modern political discussion, to highlight his faith in Jesus Christ, and to expose the lies of the leftists.
It’s all I can say tonight. My family and I are heartbroken. As a Christian/Conservative writer, Charlie Kirk was an inspiration and a supporter of my efforts. I believe the Governor of Utah put it most poignantly, “this was a political assassination”. But more than that, it was a wanton disregard for the life of a peaceful young husband and father who simply sought discussion as a means to debate ideas, and maybe, just maybe, convince a few folks. This was the intent of those who fought and died to bring this republic into existence. And so now he is silenced. Or is he…?
