It’s been a year since they took him. I say “they”, as Charlie’s assassination was about more than the little coward (whose name I refuse to include in this article), who pulled the trigger. It’s about an ideology of vitriol, violence and hate, disguised as a political movement, and a deliberate attempt to destroy the greatest experiment in self-governance in all human history.
Truth be told, I’m no longer confused by the apparent trajectory of this wounded republic, though I’m concerned about where it lands. Not for me so much, but for my wife, my son, and my granddaughter. You see I’ve written much about elections, more specifically those of the last ten or so years, and how they’ve come to be the most pivotal of the last 250. To understand this, you would have to have read some of the manifestos and writings of those opposed to the notions of freedom and liberty “We the People” hold dear, perhaps those of Marx, Lenin, and Mao to name just a few. You would also have to be true students of history, as all freedom loving people around the globe should be. And finally, you would have to be clear headed thinkers, not consumed by modern media, artificial intelligence, and an education system which has forgotten, or simply cast aside all that makes the United States exceptional.
No, Charlie’s murderer didn’t act alone. He acted out of misguided and criminal intent, born of ignorance, and a deep seated lack of self esteem, stoked by diabolical forces who understand with clarity, the way to ultimate power over people is through their weaknesses. THIS is the stuff of fascism, socialism, and communism. (And you’re seeing this right. I do not capitalize murderous ideologies in sentences. I diminish them.) THIS is the breeding ground of dictators! THIS is the environment which ultimately gives us the Booths, the Oswalds, the Sirhan Sirhan’s, the Rays, and yes, the little puke who shot an unarmed, innocent husband and father in the neck from the rooftop of a building, because he couldn’t face the truth that man was speaking.
I miss Charlie. I miss the playful way he dismantled those who brought ideological arguments to thoughtful discussions, all the while providing them the very free speech they would ultimately deny him. I still cannot watch him on TV without breaking down. It still cuts like a knife, because we still see the unbridled hate frothing in the mouths of his detractors. These are truly the scum of the earth, with their bullhorns and blue hair, the true fascists, the real haters and malcontents screaming like the mentally ill reprobates they are. Theirs is a world of sinful depravity, driven by a life’s mission to reconcile themselves in our eyes, NO MATTER THE COST!
One year later and not one single bit deterred, am I. Our nation is the greatest on planet earth and I will NEVER apologize for it. Our Constitution and Declaration are two of the three greatest documents ever written by the hand of man. You know number one. Charlie sure did. And I’m convinced he’s “living” the benefits of his faith this very moment and for all eternity.
Nevertheless, I feel I must apologize to my faithful for not striking a more conciliatory tone on the anniversary of this American heroes assassination, as I promised myself I would. And I apologize for not preaching a more unifying message in these increasingly more difficult times. But the truth is, I’m starting to think it’s just not possible. It’s not funny any longer when a young person on the beach, enjoying the very freedom men and women of the United States Military have secured for them with their lives and limbs, thinks the president during WWII was JFK. And it’s alarming when that same young person believes assassination is a reasonable means to an end, and when asked why, they tell you their professor told them so. And it’s a sad day when enough New York City voters ignore the cold and horrifying reality of 9/11/2021, and elect a socialist muslim mayor, born in Uganda, who never worked an honest day in his life, and who can’t quite, or just refuses to, bring himself out of antisemitism’s ugly shadow. No my fellow American’s, Charlie Kirk’s death was a travesty, and bodes evil times ahead for America. I’m just not sure what else to say. The facts are out there for all who would receive the truth, kinda like Salvation, I guess. We are simply not the same.
I think I will go to church this weekend and discuss all of this with my Lord and Savior. Maybe I just need to listen to Him. Maybe the world does… Here’s to you Charlie Kirk. On this solemn anniversary, and as we also remember the events of 25 years ago at “Ground Zero”, and all the loved and lost, here’s to you, Sir…
