Good Friday 2015…

As I prepare to remember the sacrifice of my Lord and Savior this evening, I recall Mel Gibson’s movie “The Passion of the Christ”. I watch it every year at the time of Easter, and this scene has always defined how I view that “Good Friday” so long ago.

Yeshua was indeed God made into flesh. But he was also a mother’s son. How difficult it must have been for the woman who knew He was born to Her to bear the sin of the world. And how lowly are we who so often take that gift for granted…

Teaching the teachers…

Lexington HS

Lexington HS

The subject of patriotism came up on one of the talking-head cable shows today and a reference was made to the Lexington High School “American Pride” school dance. It seems school administrators, in all their infinite “wisdom”, thought a few folks might be offended and proposed changing the theme to “National Pride” to include all nationalities. Really? Then it dawned on me. If we can’t get our country’s origins and history straight in Lexington Massachusetts, arguably the birthplace of this great Republic, then we may as well just throw in the towel right now. Moreover, if the fools we entrust our posterity’s education to can’t let go of their screwball ideological positions long enough to actually teach our kids the truth about who we are and what we stand for as a nation, then maybe it’s time to get some new teachers!

Thankfully, the students at Lexington HS were able to recognize the ruse and raised holy heck over the ensuing controversy, thus forcing the so-called educators to re-think their anti-American propaganda ploy. Kudos to these brave young Patriots for doubling down on the Liberty so many have fought and died to defend, and making the case for our Constitution and way of life! Enjoy your dance boys and girls…!

The freedom to be ignorant…

Senator Ted Cruz

Senator Ted Cruz

Someone referred to me as a “nut-job” recently because I watch FOX NEWS. This made me think wow, the Left apparently still has no answer for the “fair and balanced” thing, so they continue with this childish name-calling stuff. Truth be told, I watch a half-dozen television news programs as well as on-line news stations, listen to a bunch of radio broadcasts, and read far too many newspapers before I make the choice to opine. Now I’m not claiming some academic or ideological high ground here, but I am suggesting that’s what truly bothers the Lefties so much, that folks like me actually make an effort to be accurate and truthful.

Moreover, and while I don’t necessarily consider myself a Ted Cruz “Tea Party” person per-sea, it does rub me the wrong way when I hear some idiot refer to Tea Party types as radicals or nut-jobs. Now that I think of it, I believe the Tea Party supports the fundamental value system that made this country great, along with smaller government, term limits and lower taxes. Heck, I am a freaking “nut-job”, and damn proud of it you elitist butt-wipe!

Look people, there are nut-jobs around every corner and across the political spectrum. That said, please do your children a favor and get your ideological heads out of your collective back-sides, before the nation which has sacrificed so much of its blood and treasure for your freedom to be ignorant by choice, vanishes before your very eyes.

“We the People” do appreciate it…

The real President Obama…

President Obama

President Obama

There’s been much said about the politics and person of our twice elected president. Truth be told, I’ve always been a little hesitant to speak to Mr. Obama’s persona and how it affects his job performance, however it’s high time the two are viewed in the same context.

I do remain confident in my evaluation of 44, in that I’ve always believed him to be petty and far too thin-skinned for the office. Moreover, and throughout his continuing honeymoon with the main stream press, I’ve watched and listened to this hyper-ideological and relatively unknown character continually set aside our Constitution, while simultaneously breaking every campaign promise he made in order to facilitate his path to power.

Prime Minister Netanyahu

Prime Minister Netanyahu

Nevertheless, many in the media are debating President Obama’s most recent (personal) dust-up with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, after Netanyahu’s decisive victory in an election projected by “some” to be far closer than it ever was. I would only add that it should be clear to anyone willing to be objective for their children’s sake that Barack Obama was neither qualified for nor properly vetted to the highest office in the land, and it’s showing badly. Furthermore, the president’s elitist and politically vindictive nature has placed our great nation in its most perilous posture since the height of the Cold War.

Indeed my fellow Americans, elections do have consequences…

The much bigger picture…

images6E4N8HN4In the broader sense, world history draws a detailed and obvious map should we of the 21st century choose to follow it. Much of the problem however comes when that history is shelved, revised, or otherwise ignored. In the more specific sense, we clearly see the birth of a new age of evil, one at least equal to and likely worse than anything human kind has witnessed. This does not and should not diminish any other abominable acts committed by humans against other humans throughout the ages, and often by the design of a misguided and murderous ideology. However the very evolution of the civilized world, as we know it to be influenced by those pesky “Commandments” brought down from Mt. Sinai, makes the slaughter of a bound and kneeling prisoner by a boy no more than 10 or 12 that much more grotesque and unconscionable.

Admittedly, I am a Christian who believes that no plans of mine shall alter those of God. With that said and in my humble opinion, there can be no greater “crime against humanity” than to stand by and allow pure evil to rob us of our most valuable possession, our children…

JV President…

obama-pitchWatching the President of the United States articulate his positions and strategies can be a tedious even stressful experience for us political junkies. With less than two years remaining in his presidency, Mr. Obama still has difficulty comporting himself as a world leader with purpose and conviction during otherwise choreographed press conferences. He always seems just a bit out of his element, that clearly being the soapbox in any given university faculty lounge.

As history is now being written in ways that will be the focus of countless classroom discussions for generations to come, “the leader of the free world” seems nothing short of uncomfortable in his own skin when making his case on the world stage. During a recent appearance with Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel, the POTUS appeared out of his league and reduced to stuttering and cheesy punch lines as he attempted to navigate the critical discussions of Islamic terrorism and Russia/Ukraine. As I focused in on Chancellor Merkel, she seemed almost indifferent to and even somewhat irritated with a president she has some history with to be sure.

Consequently and with a new war powers request from the WH officially on the table for Congress to consider, there is much to do in the way of diplomacy and coalition building in the short-term. “We the People” and our posterity need a leader, not a classroom ideologue absent the skill set necessary to see our nation through this critical period.

Ideological foolishness at our expense…

pilot-cage-ISISTo know history is to know the “Crusades” were far more than what modern Islam and even the president of the United States portray them as. In fact much of the time period should be viewed as an east/west defensive reaction to historically documented Islamic aggression. You see, the Islamist belief system did/does not allow for sovereign acceptance of any faith other than Islam, but rather only submissive existence under a caliphate. Ultimately, this left little room for a non-confrontational resolution back in 1099. With that said, any attempt to make a moral equivalency argument comparing the barbarism of ISIS in the 21st Century to the Crusades of a thousand years ago, without first explaining fully the history of the period, is purely political and frankly irresponsible and dangerous. Nothing new for this Commander-in-Chief.

In full view of modern-day crucifixion, child rape and mutilation, beheadings, and the medieval burning alive of a caged human-being, President Barack Obama has responded with an ideological, inaccurate, and even childish retort to those who clearly see the indisputable evil before all human-kind. Appropriately, he would do the world a big favor if he would simply ride his “high horse” right out of Washington, permanently.

‘Shadow of crisis has passed’… Really?

untitledKudos to the Republicans for taking the highroad after last night’s State of the Union address. I have no such political desire today.

As expected, the president embellished his record and misrepresented much of our nation’s current station to a ceremonially captive audience. In the interests of time and space however, let’s analyze some of the more important points in his speech. One of the biggest “little white lies” if you will, was the notion that unemployment numbers in our country are vastly improved and getting better. Truth be told, the labor participation rate has fallen to its lowest level in nearly 40 years, and the current percentage rate doesn’t accurately reflect the millions having left the work force and thousands more who’ve simply given up looking for work. So if the president’s contention is we have a bigger piece of a much smaller pie, then his assertion is correct. Otherwise, it is a whole lot of smoke and mirrors with far too many still hurting. Common sense and simple mathematics support the latter.

Mr. Obama spoke of an accelerated growth rate, booming stock market, and lower deficits. In fact, while much of America’s growth is sporadic at best and widely varied across the economic spectrum, that growth must also be measured against the largest national debt in US history, a dollar propped up by artificially lower interest rates, and projected deficits in excess of $950 billion per year for the foreseeable future. Well he was right for one year anyway… Overall, the American economy would likely have recovered to at least its current posture even if the president of United States were AWOL for the last six years. Our economy is more a hollow reflection of its former glory and in dire need of some sound fiscal and free market policy.

In the area of healthcare, the POTUS spoke glowingly about the 10 million people with health insurance who wouldn’t have had it otherwise, but spoke little of the excruciatingly high deductibles and premium hikes across the board. Not to mention millions who were dropped by employer programs and millions more who will be dropped when the actual employer mandate kicks in this year. When all is said and done, everyone pretty much understands that government-funded or subsidized healthcare (or anything for that matter) will end up becoming nothing but another bureaucratic entitlement drag on an already struggling economy.

One thing about the SOTU speech that was particularly confusing was how the president seemed to want to take credit for the current price of a gallon of gas. I’m fairly certain most folks would say this POTUS has been the most unfriendly president in American history in terms of fossil fuels. Moreover, all of the real reasons for lower prices at the pump, like for instance fracking and private sector drilling on state and private land, have little or nothing to do with the federal government or the president’s policies for that matter. In fact one could even argue those prices are actually in spite of the presidents best efforts to the contrary.

And finally, the president’s depiction and description of a world that only he seems to be living in was nothing short of laughable. The harsh reality of a planet living in the “shadow” of terror and insecurity, and with the very nation which has carried the torch of liberty for generations now standing firmly at the rear, one is left to wonder, has the president lost touch with reality. The murder of innocent children for watching soccer games, beheadings on YouTube, the rape and plunder of entire towns by the forces of ISIS, the apparent collapse of the president’s much touted Yemeni capital, and the unfettered propagandizing of an Islamofascist ideology which marginalizes humanity in ways we haven’t seen since the late 1930’s, leaves little room for politically expedient interpretation. On this note, and in the name of all those who’ve given their last full measure in the “war on terror”, the president of the United States should carefully reconsider the comments he made on the matter last evening.

There is so much more about the president’s remarks last night which made one want to climb through the television screen to argue the point. From free college, to paying women equally in the workforce, (as opposed to those in his own administration), alas it will inevitably fall to Republicans to make the case on most of these issues. And to be fair, I’m not totally sure they can. With that said, this is a politically correct president who has managed to manipulate a majority of voters through two presidential election cycles. He has succeeded in changing the political dynamic in this country to a degree that it will admittedly be difficult to reverse. The rock-solid foundational principles of success through hard work and determination, have been undermined by the attractive but costly quicksand of big government, entitlement, and class warfare. Constitutional keywords like “promote” are being replaced by “provide”. “Hand up” is now “hand out” or “free stuff”, which is fast becoming the sad punchline of an administration less and less cautious about articulating its intention to remake the American Dream.

In the past we’ve seen our elected leaders bend and sway with the will of the people. Last night however, we heard a defiant almost cocky ideologue fly in the face of a newly elected majority in both houses of Congress sent to correct the wrongs as the voters understand them to be. And whether you believe it’s the color of his skin, the content of his agenda, or simply a nostalgic longing for a time long past, never has an American president been given so much latitude by a free press charged with the awesome responsibility of objectivity as this one, and never have they gotten it so wrong so often.

Ronald Reagan once said that freedom is always but a generation from extinction. I believe we are at that crossroad my fellow Americans. I believe we are allowing our country to slip away for all the wrong reasons and condemning our children to a future absent the freedoms and “exceptionalism” their forefathers fought and died for. The president promises two more years of the same, which will likely include more broken promises, more spending of our great-grandchildren’s money, and a deep pass down the field of flowers and James Taylor songs, which aside from their artistic contributions and pleasantries to the ear, are as meaningless to our collective successes as the generation they were born from. We are truly living in pivotal times my friends. They are times for serious people with more than just perceived good intentions. Regrettably, what we heard from our president last night was self-aggrandizing hyperbole intended only to agitate his political opponents and re-assert his personal relevance. Nevertheless, watch carefully my fellow Americans and remember, we get the government we elect, and ultimately the government we deserve.

Not at all surprised…

2497AA3D00000578-2905307-image-a-24_1420988802054The very soul of liberty was attacked in France, leaving an entire civilized world to contemplate how far we will allow a blatantly sadistic and inhuman ideology to go. For our part, there has been much written and bloviated about why the United States was not more appropriately represented at a subsequent rally and march in spite of the murderers. I found the answer to that question to be quite obvious.

At the outset of the Obama Presidency it was plain to see, (at least for those not blinded by the grandiose hyperbole), that the new president viewed our nation as merely a party to history and not one which has led or should lead for the good of all nations. In fact it’s now been more than six years since we first heard the lofty “hope and change”, yet Mr. Obama still references the sins of slavery rather than the sacrifice of those who gave their last full measure to abolish it, or even the efforts of the genuine protesters who paved his own road to the White House. He promotes entitlement and “wealth sharing” as an alternative to the free market capitalism which has raised up billions from the depths of poverty and despair. And he appeases the Islamist terrorist who would hardly afford him the same consideration.

So you see my fellow Americans, we’re getting exactly what our president promised back in 2008, a nation politically removed from its former principles and the storied history which gave way to them, and relegated to the position of every other nation content to have ridden the broad shoulders of our hard-fought freedom.

“Boo-Yah!”… Stuart Scott, 1965 – 2015

Stuart Scott 1965-2015

Stuart Scott 1965-2015

I’m remembering Stuart Scot today, not for the color of his skin and the so-called “controversial style” he brought to ESPN, and not because of his heroic and passionate battle with the dreadful disease that took my mom and dad, but more simply because he was too young to leave. Too young to leave his beautiful daughters, too young to leave a successful career of his own determination and making, and just too young to have no more tomorrows. Scott was an athlete, a sports enthusiast of the highest order, and a broadcaster who blazed a trail many would follow. But he was also an extraordinary father who by way of the manner in which he left us, showed his girls (and the rest of us) how to live. Stuart Scott was truly, “Cooler than the other side of the pillow”.

Mario Cuomo, 1932 – 2015…

untitledToday we note the passing of three term New York Governor Mario Cuomo, a giant in the world of politics in our country. Out of an abundance of respect, I will not debate his time as governor, but to say this son of immigrants made his mark on the American political scene to be sure. As a side note however, I did read the president’s press release on Governor Cuomo’s passing, and found in it the nucleus of where the Progressive Left truly goes off the rails ideologically. “His own story taught him that as Americans, we are bound together as one people, and our country’s success rests on the success of all of us, not just a fortunate few,” Obama said. (AP)

Well there it is, the politics of division and redistribution masquerading as “inclusion and fairness”. Sadly, our chief executive omits the very necessary “success” of the individual first as the proverbial cornerstone for the national success he speaks of.

And so I suppose that in terms of ideology we needn’t look beyond the posthumously given remarks of a true “Progressive champion”, to find the root of the Lefts misguided and collective ignorance.

Is it race, or something more???

ferguson-riots

The issue of tension between police and minorities in this country is a double edge sword to be sure, with roots on both sides of the argument. But first the facts, as supported by all available evidence.

On July 17, 2014 – 43 year-old father of six Eric Garner, resisted attempts by several NYPD police officers to take him into custody for “selling loose cigarettes”, and apparently died as a result of positional asphyxiation and “neck compression” caused by a choke hold applied by one of the officers during the arrest.

On August 9, 2014 – 18 year-old Michael Brown refused a police officer’s directive to move from the roadway to the sidewalk and subsequently attacked that officer in his vehicle as a result of an argument which ensued. He then refused additional directives to comply as the officer attempted to arrest him and was charging at the officer when he was shot and killed. In both instances, the suspects were black males.

Now I’ve purposely left out all the pundit opinions and media hoopla, most of which are ratings driven and designed to illicit an emotional response. I do believe however, that we mustn’t miss this opportunity to vet an issue that dates back to the 19th century, and has “deep roots” as the POTUS has promoted in several interviews recently.

For the purposes of disclosure and the accusations of bias which are sure to fly, I’ve worked in uniform most of my career and I have an obvious appreciation for the men and women who enforce the law. However I feel this is more a product of my experience rather than my opinion. I would add that I’ve been fairly active in training and policy development over the years which I believe gives me some unique insight beyond the uninformed and/or ill-intentioned characterizations of any opportunistic/anarchist protesters. Nevertheless, it should be noted.

Firstly, and I think most importantly, when the President of The United States speaks from the “bully pulpit” of the Oval Office on the topic of “racial divisions” between police and the minority community, he does so by way of his own interpretation of history, and through the somewhat privileged eyes of a young man who went to private school, and struggled primarily with his identity/appearance as a “bi-racial” youth, rather than as someone who was caught in the throes of gang violence, lacking opportunities, and/or burdened by extreme poverty. Granted Young “Barry” experimented with many of the temptations of youth and grappled with his family identity and faith, but this is a far cry from the plight of those living on the blood stained streets of Chicago, Illinois. My point is that Mr. Obama is simply too quick to draw correlating lines between his own personal experiences and those of a particular demographic he truly has little in common with. In fact, many within the Black community don’t believe the president necessarily “feels their pain” if you will, and understands little if anything about their lives. The resentment which always comes from this type of careless pandering is harmful to any legitimate discussion or debate as well, and can actually fan the flames of real bigotry and racism. Subsequently, the causes and effects of racism will never be fully and honestly debated so long as politicians like the president attempt to manipulate voter blocs absent the whole truth. Going forward, education should always precede any legitimate debate, not matter the debater.

indexSecondly, I believe the single most detrimental cause of America’s decline has been, and continues to be, the redefinition and destruction of the nuclear family as defined by a mother, father, and their children. To be clear, from this singular collapse of what most reasonable folks understand to be the traditional family unit comes many of our societal ills. Moreover, and if we look at how this affects the African-American families in our communities for the moment, we can identify things like inner city violence and murder, drugs, excessive crime rates, and the corresponding lack of opportunity and lopsided joblessness that comes along with these things. We also see a far greater number of teen pregnancies, sexual assaults and abortions, and significantly higher rates of alcohol abuse in those same neighborhoods. Ironically this was not always true, as the early post emancipation black households were the model of law-abiding, decent, and hardworking and deeply faith based families. Is this an indictment of only black neighborhoods or families? Of course not. But if our intention is to debate the issue of violence affecting black men in our country, and whether or not that violence is rooted in “racism”, aren’t these statistics and the reasons for them vital to the argument? Moreover, should the question be the how and why, or must we finally affix a historical tag to the sins of the past and go about the business of promoting the American dream for all who seek it, no matter the color of their skin?

Is there an expiration date to the sins of slavery? I think not. But the facts of this country’s efforts, and the time frame in which those efforts paid dividends, albeit by way of much blood and treasure, is unmatched in all human history. In fact human slavery remains even today in many regions, including inside the borders of many of the nations which oppose us. And we continue to hear zero outrage from the Left on that indisputable fact? The more significant wound for America though, appears self-inflicted. It is the wholesale victimization of an entire race by Liberal progressive thinkers, who clearly see the political benefits of affixing blame to a particular ideology, while simultaneously prescribing entitlement and dependency as the cures for society’s ills. This type of political maneuvering leaves much on table without addressing the real issues, and provides those who seek only confrontation a platform to sound off on. Even worse, it is actually intended to do just that, and breeds the kind of incomplete analysis being spoon fed to America’s youth inside nearly all of our so-called “institutions of higher learning”. Is there still racism in this country? Yes. But certainly not the kind which existed at the close of the Civil War, or in the midst of the social strife of the 1960’s. In fact, and as I’ve already stated, we have surpassed the virtues of tolerance as a nation, and replaced those tenets with the chains of misplaced and divisive political correctness, and at the growing expense of our sacred national identity.

eric-garner-killingMy third and final point has to do with law enforcement, and how many of the same issues affecting families in crises in high crime areas, are also affecting our police officers, especially those of the more recent generation. The same lack of “real education” and proper historical perspective, along with the same redefinition of family and ethical behavior, have left some police officers with a diluted and often incomplete interpretation of justice. Nevertheless, there is simply no excuse for any officer of the law who swears an oath to the flag and to his community, to stray from the constraints of that oath and violate the rights of those he/she is sworn to protect and serve. Police officers should remember, the badge they wear simply means they must comport themselves at an even higher level, and meet an even higher standard than that of their fellow citizens, in order to present as an independent and impartial professional. This doesn’t mean police officers might not be required to use force to fulfill their duties and responsibilities as outlined in their job description and department protocol. But rather it means they must understand when it’s appropriate to do so, and be ever-vigilant in the application of that force so it will stand against the necessary judicial scrutiny. And while this is difficult to say the least, it is why they receive the level of training they do, and is a product of the community service they’ve signed on for. Policing is just not for everyone, and one should consider carefully a career with such weighty responsibility. Moreover, a candidate must step from a position of ethics and moral character first, as he/she will be required to make split second decisions and should never be handicapped by an inability to decipher right from wrong.

I know this is a little more than my usual rants, but I have a young boy at home, and I see difficult times ahead for him and his friends. In fact, the manner and method of our judiciousness today will be theirs to benefit from or suffer for tomorrow. This goes for both the rogue police officer who crosses the line and tramples a person’s Constitutional rights, as well as the opportunistic criminal who dons the cape of victim-hood and loots and burns his neighbor’s store in the name of false propaganda. I would also throw in the greedy political type who masquerades as a champion of the oppressed, but is more likely a charlatan whose interests are wholly self-serving. (Are you listening Al Sharpton and Louis Farrakhan?) I do not use the titles of “Honorable Minister” or “Reverend” with these two, as regardless of their educational background, neither are deserving of such lofty and responsible titles.

GTY_cop_funeral_jef_141226_16x9_992It’s unnerving to witness how this is all unfolding to be sure, with the recent assassinations of two NYPD police officers as they sat eating lunch in their marked police cruiser, as well as additional “police officers involved shooting” incidents in Missouri and Texas which are in the beginning stages of investigation. I can only speculate about tomorrow as our nation seems paralyzed by the truth and how that truth can and often does change things. Accordingly, I just write and pray these days, hopeful that we may turn away from entitlement and “do what feels good” mindsets, and return to the “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” so many have died to defend. I know it’s not easy, but nothing truly worthwhile in this life ever is. And whether it’s the reprehensible and irresponsible Socialist professor who chooses to re-write the “Pledge of Allegiance” and have it reflect the very one-sided partisan crap he claims to abhor, or a university president who gets it right and then back tracts in the face of the same hypocrisy, it’s not hard to see where we’re going wrong. So while I admit the events of recent are troubling, and will have consequences beyond any presidential cabinet meetings, proclamations or photo ops, I do believe we need to seek truth first, free of the poisonous elixir of politics and propaganda. This means that politicians and media types alike must reconcile their moral and ethical responsibilities to “We the People” first, and table their own personal bias as it has no place in these critical debates. Then “We the People” must acknowledge the truth of our national decline and stop making every excuse in the book for our failures and foolishness. We must learn from our mistakes but not allow them to haunt and thus hinder our progress. And we absolutely must pass on to our posterity, the indisputable pillars of our founding, those being God, country and family! This will certainly be a long road, and I’m not so naïve that I would say it’s doable on day one. However, to ignore what is happening to these United States is to deprive our kids of a future living in the greatest country on planet earth. This would be the height of irresponsibility in my eyes…

Just the basics…

No-1-USA-patch-197x300I watched a video dramatization on Facebook recently which included actor Jeff Daniels going on about how the U.S. wasn’t the greatest nation in the world any longer. Truth be told, it was actually quite accurate in terms of America’s decline, though the politics was deafening if you were really listening. Nevertheless, it did make me ponder how we got here from there, and where that leaves us now as a nation. Then I happened upon a National Geographic documentary on Netflix about North Korea (Inside North Korea) last week, and it all seemed so clear.

Ours is the gift of liberty and freedom, given unto human kind as a birth right from God, and memorialized in the most unambiguous set of founding documents in all history. The conundrum for “We the People”, is communicating this to a generation which will likely never benefit from the wisdom of those who secured that liberty for them.

Ultimately, we will sink or swim depending on how well we articulate to the next generation, the difference between a country which guards the freedom to debate one’s own ideology against that of another, and one in which you and your entire family could be shot or sent to a concentration camp and slowly starved to death for doing so. Frankly, I just don’t believe there’s enough of this truth making into our classrooms these days.

BTW, if you haven’t watched both of these videos, you and your age appropriate children should do so at the earliest juncture. Wake up America!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMqcLUqYqrs

I’m adding my Facebook response as food for thought.

This is a great video and speaks clearly to America’s station in the world today. It’s “in your face” and truthful in characterizing, (and categorizing) if you will, the facts of the matter. But as usual, it’s only part of the story. And while I concur with the facts as stated, and agree with the premise and ending as portrayed by actor Jeff Daniels, I disagree with the overall assertion that the United States is no longer the greatest nation in the world. Yes, we have faltered in many ways to be sure. But the reasons are far more complicated and lie in our own political complacency, and have little or nothing to do with our “national identity”. To be clear, many of the nation’s Mr. Daniels mentions in the video enjoy their freedom because American men and women who have willingly given their lives on battles-fields around the globe over the last century. In fact most of those nations would live under a Nazi flag had it not been for the more than 400,000 American soldiers who died fighting WWII. Now was America the only nation fighting for that freedom? Certainly not. But young folks in this country would do well to gaze upon the fields in places like Pointe du Hoc and Luxembourg, and understand unequivocally, that no nation in recorded history has “volunteered” more of her sons and daughters in the name of human freedom than the United States. Yes it is true we must return to the aspirations of our creed, “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”. But our teachers should first be teaching that it is our (ideals and principles) which make us great, not our economy and space program. Those things are the products of success in a free society, and unfortunately can be hindered by the politics of men no matter the borders inside which they stand.

It can be complicated no doubt, but we mustn’t confuse the down-turn of this great nation with an incomplete picture of who we are/were. Simply put, the United States is still the greatest nation on planet earth so long as we hold fast to our founding principles, principles which have freed the millions mentioned in this video, and at incredible cost and sacrifice. The rest is material, reward for the decency and common sense of a country grounded in faith in something greater than the sum of its parts.
America’s political soul may be wounded. Moreover, the cost of incessant ideological bickering, as well as the revisionist history being spewed in our “institutions of higher learning”, has been great. But truth be told, if we mean to “educate” the next generation in American history, so they may contemplate the difficult decisions necessary to turn this mighty ship around, then we must be honest and include all of the history good and bad. We must instill in our children, the fact that no nation has ever contributed more to the human condition, and in as short a period of time, as the United States of America. Start there, and we have a legitimate debate…

“He is for all mankind…”

My Christmas wish friends, is that we somehow find our way back to the humility and grace of God’s son in the coming year. Mind you, we must never shrink from our responsibilities to defend freedom and liberty as He intended it for all humanity. But a good place to begin the journey to “peace on earth, good will toward men”, has always been in our own hearts, homes, and churches. I have come to the realization, that to go forth with anything less in our hearts is simply a waste of energy. God bless you all, and Merry Christmas…

Merry Christmas 2014???

la-sp-sn-yankees-nypd-slain-officer-20141222-001Is there “racism” in our country? Yes, though that word speaks to an environment which hasn’t existed in the U.S. for some time. It’s more a broad brush/excuse, used by some of less than honorable intent, to paint an incomplete picture of a complicated issue. Regardless, we are a nation of laws, and the murder of a uniform police officer in any civil society always represents a sign of national weakness like no other I can think of. Of the protests I would only say, “the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances“, is not something we should ever take for granted. But those who exercise that right must also accept the responsibility which comes with it. Moreover, media, pundits, politicians and “community organizers” alike, should consider carefully the moral foundations of that which they purvey in the name of “We the People”.

Michael Brown and Eric Garner are still dead, and now so too are NYPD Officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos, their families struggling against the immense pain of loss. In the end, I believe we all know what must be done. The problem is, those real and achievable solutions of “peace on earth, good will toward men”, and the text from which we read them, are considered “politically incorrect”.

“God bless us every one”. We’re gonna need it.

Death by national suicide…

untitledQuotes are tricky things and many folks often get them wrong. While a steadfast student of history, I have also been burned by the social media quote machine a time or two. This has however, made me laser focused on the truth of what our founders and shapers have left for us to ponder concerning the fate of this great republic. Thus I’ve embraced Reagan’s philosophy of “trust but verify”. One of the quotes I’ve heard bandied about over the years has been both heralded and denounced, but rarely vetted. It is one which references the fact that our enemies will make no successful effort against us but to wait while we destroy ourselves from within. In fact, it is so altogether fitting and proper considering events of this past week, as well as our overall national station in the age of Obama, that I give you the true text today. Consider the words carefully my fellow Americans.

The Perpetuation of Our Political Institutions: Address Before the Young Men’s Lyceum of Springfield, Illinois

“Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant to step the ocean and crush us at a blow? Never! All the armies of Europe, Asia, and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest, with a Bonaparte for a commander, could not by force take a drink from the Ohio or make a track on the Blue Ridge in a trial of a thousand years. At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer. If it ever reach us it must spring up amongst us; it cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen we must live through all time or die by suicide.” – (Abraham Lincoln) January 27, 1838

A “Patriot64” Thanksgiving 2014…

images51KY2SWXOn this Thanksgiving, I’m thankful for my family and their health. And I’m reminded of how easy it is to take these things for granted. So to all who struggle with health issues this holiday season, whether it be theirs or their loved ones physical or mental health, let us pray for them and be mindful of our blessings, so the Lord will raise up those who need it most.

I am also thankful for the men and women of the United States Military, as they sacrifice, stand guard, and go in harm’s way so we may sit down to dinner this afternoon in peace. Lord keep them and guide them safely home to their families. They are truly deserving of our greatest appreciation and efforts.

And finally, I’m grateful to live in and understand a nation of freedom, where I may pursue my happiness and success of my own accord. Lord may your hand always lay favorably upon the noble beginnings and foundations of this great country, and may we steadfastly endeavor that our children learn of and hold fast to those tenets and values which are indisputable and yet, sometimes so fragile in our hands.

Happy Thanksgiving all, and God bless you…

Ignoring the real problems…

imagesI always wait a couple of days before commenting on the more controversial stories of our time. It seems there are always caveats which ultimately shape our opinions going forward with the discourse. In this case however, the facts dictate some obvious conclusions albeit with some weighty questions.

The circumstances of Michael Browns death are tragic to be sure, but not necessarily extraordinary. Confrontational and frustrated young black man crosses the line and dies in a fatal confrontation with law enforcement. A grand jury later declines to issue a “true bill” in the matter of the officer’s culpability in the death of the young man. In their judgment and after reviewing the evidence, the officer acted within the scope of his training and protocols, and in a manner consistent with that of any reasonable police officer faced with the same situation.

The cold hard truth of this case aside, missing the lessons/questions here would be regrettable to say the least. Moreover, input from any self-serving politician, including our narcissistic president does little but fan the flames of ignorance and exploitation. No my fellow Americans, the problem is a societal one, and no amount of opportunistic looting portrayed by the news media as “protesting” will change that. Who was Michael Brown and why are his parents seemingly far more involved in the circumstances of his death than they ever were in those of his life? Why does the number of black police officers in Ferguson not reflect more closely, the populous demographic? Where are the real community leaders, and do the media and Al Sharpton’s of the world bear any responsibility in the violent aftermath of the grand jury’s decision? And finally, when we hold our elected officials accountable for the generational pandering and placating that has only augmented divisions in our nation, while hindering the true racial and cultural harmony which has made us the greatest country on planet earth?

These are only some of the many questions we can ask in the wake of this unfortunate chain of events. With that said, maybe just maybe, a true leader will seize the moment and grab hold of the positive change we so desperately need, and rekindle the American spirit of God and family in the hearts of ALL citizens, so we may know and understand our best days still lie ahead.

Wrong day Bruce…

cfJee_AuSt_77Bruce Springsteen has never really been what he makes himself out to be. The whole working class hero thing is the long ago manufactured tag-line of an aspiring musician who cut his first record in his very early 20’s. Springsteen lived little or nothing of the true economical and social strife he attempts to portray in his music, and therefore understands equally as little about how and why it affects our nation. Moreover, his view of freedom and its cost is equally as vague and without context or experience.

Now its fine if this phony wants to write and perform his music for those longing for an earlier time, but when he and the John Bon Jovi’s of this world offer up that music as some kind of “educated” political prophecy, I’m inclined to tune out in a hurry.

I would only say to Bruce, whether he agrees or disagrees with this nation’s foundational tenets or the subsequent application(s) of its elected government, please have the decency to respect the day we honor men and women who willfully put themselves in harm’s way so you can belt out a few off-key melodies to an adoring albeit misguided audience?

Bridge to foolishness…

IMG_6416The midterm elections were a reminder of the ideological differences dividing our nation. They were also a reminder that overall, “We the People” will eventually catch on that we’re being bamboozled by those we elect to high office. Notwithstanding generational dependents along for the ride, most hard-working Americans will catch on as policy catches up with their everyday lives.

So it should come as no surprise that even the folks out in very Liberal San Francisco California, are balking at the extra $33 million dollar price tag now being affixed to the demolition of the old Bay Bridge because of some protected (and not even endangered) birds. It seems the double-Crested Cormorant is on the federal government’s protected list and likes to hang out on the old Bridge. Fearing even greater numbers in terms of federal fines, as well as the wrath of the PETA types, the state is spending approximately $40,000.00 per bird on 800 birds to coax them into moving next door to the new bridge.

Now for anyone who’s really keeping score, the Left in this country does a whole lot of bloviating about wealth redistribution and the plight of those living below the poverty level, yet our government at the municipal, state and federal level, is pissing away your tax dollars in a wash of bureaucracy that’s simply beyond comprehension. How in God’s name can any so-called representative of the people even attempt to justify this kind of abuse with a straight face? Moreover, how does the Left sleep at night when those truly in need are going without while their government engages in such idiocy?

I say, shame on the morally bankrupt and politically inept bureaucrats who allow this type of foolishness to go unchecked.

Post midterm…

660ObamaMcConnell_20141105_102428After yesterday’s midterm elections, and laying aside the fact my home state of Rhode Island remains a microcosm for what’s wrong with our republic, it appears the Obama agenda has finally been derailed. Admittedly I believe this is a good day for the country, but many questions remain. Let’s examine some of those.

  1. Will the battle for the soul of the Republican Party compromise its collective ability to govern effectively?
  2. Will Democrats break ranks with the President and proceed in their own states and (re-election) best interests?
  3. How (and how quickly) will Republicans address a host of critical issues, not the least of which are “Obamacare”, immigration reform, staggering national debt, and a propped up “house of cards” economy?

Clearly the American electorate are a fickle bunch, as demonstrated by yesterday’s returns. They expect change with positive results, but they’re not too keen on waiting for it. In fact, many are blind to their role in the very change they seek, as evidenced by the above mentioned and apparently self-imposed ignorance of the majority of voters in my home state. Notwithstanding that enigma, here are some questions for “We the People” as well.

  1. Will Americans find their way back to “the pursuit of happiness” as written, and not a political promise of it?
  2. Will they teach their children that the “general welfare” is just that, general? And will they remind them that government shall not provide it but rather only “promote it”?
  3. Will they teach their children of liberty, hard work, sacrifice and the rule of law, as means to a fruitful and rewarding life, or will entitlement and the crushing debt of a dependent society be the gifts we leave the next generation?
  4. And finally, will Americans acknowledge and pass to their children, a storied national history, that while not perfect, is undeniably the best arrangement for mankind under God, and has done more for the betterment of same than any nation in human history?

In either case, it’s never actually about the candidates. Truth be told, it’s much more about you and me and the degree to which we are committed to that time-honored tradition of leaving our posterity a better country than the one left to us. Regrettably, the generation which understood this best, by way of their experiences and understanding of our nation’s fundamental tenets, is rapidly fading into history. This leaves only the selfish “Baby Boomer” academics and elitists, whose only concerns are how they may manipulate and remake freedom and the Constitution to their own self-interest, and who are most certainly robbing our children of their rightful inheritance. Remember this when you vote my fellow Americans, and know that we sit precariously on a timing line if you will, and that whatever political decisions we make today, our children will surly answer for tomorrow.

Forsaking the educated vote…

untitledAdmittedly, the fact that my 12 year-old has a deeper knowledge and understanding of civics and our founding principles than most college 20 something’s is troubling to be sure. It’s at least an indicator of more difficult times ahead for a nation that’s apparently lost sight of its moral standing in the world.

Now Barack Obama was not the catalyst or even necessarily the most pivotal player in what I now see as America’s generational decline. But as president, he’s certainly advanced a culture of victimization, class warfare and divisiveness, the likes of which I simply cannot recall. This comes much more clearly into focus as we approach the 2014 midterms, with pet causes and matters of personal validation once again encroaching on critical issues like the economy and foreign policy. With the help of a hopelessly bias “main stream” press, facts are noticeably absent from much of the conversation two weeks ahead of what may be the most pivotal election in recent times, while fear mongering and attack ads highlight candidates stances on things like “gay marriage” and “abortion” as a means to confuse or play on the emotion of the electorate. Ironically, little or nothing would change on either of these two fronts with the election of most any of the candidates today. But this is nevertheless an example of how important it is for the American people to be vigilant in pursuit of an educated vote. Consequently, and when taken in the context of our efforts, or lack thereof, along the lines of educating those to whom we mean to pass on this nation eventually, abuses of political power like those we’re seeing in Houston by Mayor Annise Parker take on a whole new significance. To be clear, it’s incumbent upon “We the People”, and more specifically “We the Parents”, not only to speak up and confront this type of gross political overreach regardless of our ideological or personal leanings, but also to exercise that moral obligation to educate our kids on the “why” of why this type of self-serving foolishness is never acceptable in a representative republic under law.

Without question, the greatness of our country hinges on the freedom of its people to engage in the discourse of the time. However the results/renderings of those debates, be they in the form of legislation and/or public policy as generated through the process of government, (city, state and federal), must be rooted in the fundamental tenets of our Constitution and Bill of Rights as they apply to all citizens of the United States. Absent these basic and undeniable truths, and as they should be taught to future generations without prejudice and/or revision, this “one nation under God” will not stand as originally intended in our children’s lifetimes.

Ebola/Obama…

imagesFKZ0N9A9Beckel commented on FOX recently, that Republicans always complaining about how government should be smaller are now criticizing government for the lack of adequate response to “Ebola”. Well first and foremost, CDC funding doubled during Bush 43, and is up over thirty-five percent since Obama has been in the WH. Moreover, the GOP’s bone of contention has always been the “rate of spending”, and not cuts to existing funding, and also that tax payer money allotted for “disease control” shouldn’t be spent on bike paths and green energy projects.

I think it’s fair to say Americans are now concerned about this virus with a mortality rate of better than fifty percent, and that anyone idiot could’ve seen coming from 5700 miles away. I think it’s also fair to say that the Obama Administration has stumbled once again attempting to apply classroom ideology and theory to critical world events. Look, the president has one fundamental responsibility above all others, that being to protect the American people. Accordingly, and in view of his litany of failure thus far, one has to wonder how much longer, and how many more lives must be lost, before this Administration either wakes up or are removed from office for what might ultimately constitute “high crimes and misdemeanors”?

FOX on the brain…

imagesY8YCGTO1

President Obama can’t put aside his battle with Fox News. The problem is his presidency is so difficult to defend. The POTUS recently tweeted that “While affordable healthcare might still be a threat to freedom on Fox News, its working pretty well in the real world”. Now while the tweet is quirky and even amusing, it’s as removed from reality as the rest of Mr. Obama’s time in office.

The “Affordable” Care Act remains unstable at best, and most experts now agree it will do little to change the total number of uninsured in this country. The enrollment process remains flawed and incomplete, and most of the president’s promises to Americans concerning cost, care, and accessibility have proven to be something more than just lies.

Now are there folks who’ve benefitted from the ACA who would not have otherwise? I’m sure there are. But like so many poorly thought out entitlement programs cast upon the shoulders of the tax-Payer, it’s destined to be nothing but a bureaucratically bloated and significant financial drag on our economy that does little to address what it was supposed to in the first place.

Lay off the silly Fox tweets Mr. President, and do your job!

200 years…

untitledOh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
‘Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps’ pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war’s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Ray Rice and beyond…

untitledI love the game of football. Regrettably though, professional sports as a whole has become an incubator for young athletes who’ve been coddled on their way to stardom in order to secure their financial worth to the teams and owners who pursue them. This often begins at the high school level and sometimes even earlier. Superior athletes from broken homes and with scarred backgrounds, behave badly and demonstrate the potential for future irresponsibility, but are protected, ultimately leading to stories like that of Ray Rice, a star running-back for the Ravens who literally knocked his girlfriend unconscious with a jaw crunching left-hook, and did so with the speed and aggression of a boxer trading blows in the ring. To me it would seem that Rice expected little in the way of retribution because it’s how he’s been conditioned to view his own behavior and the consequences, (or lack thereof), for it.

“Consequently” if you will, all the condemnation and firings in the world will do little to address the perception of athletic ability alone as the avenue to escape a life of lesser means. Only when we focus our societal efforts on the fundamental and cultural issues of faith, family and personal accountability as “non-negotiable” foundations for a career as an athlete, (or any career for that matter), will we truly begin to effect the change we seek in the NFL, NBA, MLB, etc., etc.

P.S., We may look to the books of Griffin Jr. and Tebow as blueprints/examples.

Obama’s “WAR”…

imagesI think the POTUS might be right, at least to the extent “ISIS” is not “Islamic” per se. I would add however, there is at least a quasi “religious” component to the Islamic States of Iraq and Syria, as I believe there is with al-Qaeda, and it is that their leadership use Islam as a ready vehicle for criminal murder, rape and human rights violations, as well as a mechanism to influence and draw the young and downtrodden to their ranks. You see it was no surprise to me when Bin laden was killed hiding amongst women and children and surrounded by pornographic movies and magazines, not fighting beside dedicated “Jihadists” bent on world domination in the name of Allah. That was just a charade, despite his alleged “heroics” post Mujahedeen activities in Afghanistan during the Russian occupation. The truth is that while there are most certainly those who feed off the blood of the innocent to further a warped, inhuman and sadistic ideology, many are simply drawn to the inclusive lawlessness, power, and money associated with a conquering and unopposed force for evil. You see, carrying the banner of religion allows these murdering frauds to lay claim to credibility, thus in their minds, validating their cause as advertised. But make no mistake, the perks of an accountability free operation, will always be an attraction to criminals of the most brutal sort.

Accordingly, the “war on terror” is just that, a war against those who would use terrible acts to scare off justice and freedom. And this type of war can be fought in only one way. To combat an armed and brutal adversary with zero regard for humanity, one must use superior and terminal force against that adversary until the threat is eradicated. Now eradicated may be to specific a word in the global context. Nevertheless, overwhelming force, combined with the moral resolve of a leader who understands and can communicate the threat to freedoms people around the world, will undoubtedly make that world safer for our children.

Message for Barbara Boxer: Benghazi is “a scandal”…

g-cvr-101102-barbaraBoxer-901p-300x210Moreover, your defense of the Obama Administration’s handling of the 9/11/12 attack which killed Ambassador Chris Stevens, his attaché, and two military heroes, is at the very least, shameful.

There are many things the government of this country does which are beyond the average America’s attention span Senator. This is true for a number of reasons, not the least of which is they’re often too damn busy with the business of living, to reconcile events beyond any direct effect they may have on them or their families. Maybe that should change. Nevertheless, some things are no-brainers if you will, among them when our American brethren in service overseas are attacked and even killed. This rubs “We the People” the wrong way. That’s why the events of that fateful September evening in Benghazi, and our government’s response to them, cannot and will not be ignored mam.

Something went horribly wrong that night, and fair minded Americans understand more could have been done to save those brave operators from the barbarism of the al-Qaeda monsters. Ultimately, Senator Boxer, if you were any kind of “representative”, you too would not rest until the truth was made plain and justice meted out.

That sinking feeling…

imagesCASCWFZUAs far as I’m concerned, it borders on criminal when a politician promotes a false narrative for political or ideological sake. It’s even worse when they do it for reasons of personal legacy or job approval.

President Obama is coming to the “Ocean State” today and I’m sure he’ll be going on and on about how great the economy is, when in fact much of what many economists have been warning “Obamanomics” would bring to the table is actually happening. The ACA is crippling small businesses and raising the cost of healthcare for most Americans. Companies are doing more with fewer personnel leading to the lowest labor participation rates in a generation, (and skewing the jobless numbers). Burdensome taxes and regulation are slowing expansion and job growth, all while ignoring real solutions to help achieve energy independence as a nation. And one-third of Americans now receive some kind of government assistance.

Now these facts are debatable in terms of their individual effects on any given segment of the economy from one quarter to the next, but they are facts nonetheless. And to be parading around the country describing what’s happening economically as anything more than a flailing free market system in need of tangible stimuli, could certainly be a definition for demagoguery.

What’s happening in America???

new1topferguson_20140815_105212While I believe it’s prudent not to jump to conclusions regarding the shooting of Michael Brown by a Ferguson police officer until the investigation is complete, I do thinks it’s fair to say that based on some of the more recent revelations concerning Mr. Browns whereabouts and activities prior to his interaction with police last Saturday, paint a somewhat different picture than was initially put forth by friends, family, and even legal counsel, portraying Brown as an innocent bystander “on his way to college”. Moreover, the resulting scenes of looting, vandalism, public intoxication and drug use, only reinforce the negative stereotypes which are always promoted by opportunistic racists whenever these unfortunate incidents occur. Nevertheless, it appears police are now standing down and the “Black Panthers” have taken up directing traffic at neighborhood intersections. This is not how 21st Century civilized society is supposed to respond to these crises. Oh, and as usual, the comments of folks like Al Sharpton are the equivalent of pouring gasoline on a wildfire. What an irresponsible and despicable human being…

It’s about damn time…

How your enemy sees the world...

How your enemy sees the world…

WH Press Secretary Josh Earnest: “We’ve substantially improved the tranquility of the global community”. I mean, are these people smoking grass in the situation room? News flash Josh, the “global community” is gasping for air in the smog of growing anti-Semitism, fundamentalist terror, and ruminations of a Cold War lost.

Now I’m not necessarily condemning the Administration for its obviously short-sighted and purely academic foreign policy application, (which has been an abject failure btw), as one must understand this is first and foremost an ideological issue for the Obama classroom crew. The problem however, is their continuing inept response/reaction to these failures, allowing them to only grow in their intensity and carnage by the hour. From the Muslim Brotherhood to Benghazi to Afghanistan, to Syria, Iran, Gaza, Crimea, and now Iraq (again), The POTUS and his team have been missing in action at best, and grossly negligent in there decision making at worst. Thousands are dead and more are being persecuted and massacred in ways we haven’t seen since “The Killing Fields”, all while freedoms beacon has remained politically and militarily hamstrung, held in check by a president whose skewed view of the world has proven futile at nearly every turn. That is at least until today, when the real “humanitarian” aid finally arrived in the form of American high explosives detonating in the midst of the barbarous murderers of ISIS.

So as Christians are nailed to crosses in Iraq and an American General is riddled with bullets for his efforts to secure the blessings of liberty for those without it in Afghanistan, and as we watch Hamas indiscriminately fire rockets from civilian homes and mosques into Israeli suburbs, and as we watch a former KGB agent who speaks fluent German masterfully manipulate the entirety of Europe to further his plan of a reconfigured Soviet Union if you will, and as we now appear almost numb to civilian airliners being shot from the sky by trigger happy communist protégés, its quite stunning to hear Mr. Earnest attempt to spin reality into “Obamality” with the ease of a seasoned used car salesman.

“America is coming to help”? Really, Mr. President? Well it’s about damn time…

“The Good News Today”…

I have the honor of writing for a friends Christian newspaper, and he has given his blessing for me to share “The Good News Today”. Take a peek and check out the rest of the paper as well. It truly is an inspiring publication.

Defend our military…

twitter_russiapicYou won’t get an argument from me about the military needing to take a good hard look at the way it spends its money, but rather we’d be talking about things like less bureaucratic waste and more of what soldiers need to do their jobs. We’d be wrangling over less money for fat cats shining a seat in Washington with their ass, and more money for Veterans struggling to make their way in this life after having given so much for their country. And we’d be talking about a benefit package befitting those who go in harm’s way in our stead, and that would look much more like those of Congress and the President.

But instead, we’re witnessing an ideological and systematic dismantling of our military and its readiness to fight, the likes of which we haven’t seen since the Carter years. This president and his inexperienced and reckless cohorts have instituted a foreign policy tailored made for our enemies, and are backing it up by parking our fleet, grounding our aircraft, and sending pink slips to battled hardened military leaders while their still in-country.

This is what happens when an academic whose life experience can be viewed pretty quickly with a few clicks of a “Fisher Price View-Master” toy, is given the awesome responsibility of tending the world’s most powerful military.

So as the Middle East ignites and the Russian president drops “sissy bombs” on our Commander-in-Chief” via Twitter, it’s hard to imagine how the next president will go about the business of repairing the battered image of our nation, or for that matter, regain the confidence of the very men and women who defend the last bastion of true freedom in the world.

The next generation…

Obama_Friday_AP_660So after all the flip-flopping, pandering, politicking and whining, the POTUS is now warning Congress that if they don’t act on the border crisis he may have no choice but to unilaterally legalize the next generation of Democrat voters. Say whaaaat?

The term “lawless” is being bandied about lately whenever Mr. Obama’s efforts are debated, and it seems more and more appropriate every time he opens his mouth. The president’s obvious disregard for all things not in keeping with his personal/political philosophy, as well as his embracing of all things not in keeping with the United States Constitution and his oath of office, will certainly be the stuff of political legend in the decades to come. However, the almost reckless abandon which the POTUS displays every time he leans over his podium and vacates any appearance of professionalism one would rightfully assume goes with the office, is beginning to rub “the folks” the wrong way.

Simply put, many of the president’s core constituencies are now asking, “what about us”? You see, this guy made a lot of “hope and change” kinds of promises to a lot of people, who are now left to wonder why he’s prepared to shower illegal aliens with billions of tax-payer dollars while many of those who put him office are left struggling in the economic surf of this anemic “recovery”.

Leaderless…

imagesCAYI2W8DIt’s been extraordinary lately, watching our president basically walk away from his responsibilities to “We the People” and the Constitution. What’s more, he seems perfectly content to do so. I’ve done a little research and the term “lame duck” simply doesn’t fit this POTUS. “Blame duck” or “no shame duck” seem more appropriate considering Mr. Obama’s obvious disinterest in his foundering presidency. I mean this guy is setting precedents we can only pray future presidents will choose to ignore. It’s truly a sad and embarrassing time in our history.

One can only imagine how an egomaniacal murderer like Vladimir Putin sees a Barack Obama. Does he view him as weak and vulnerable, or merely a reflection of a declining America? Do our enemies south of the border see the president’s inaction as opportunity, or some sort of twisted collaboration? Are “the most transparent administration in presidential history” and “hope and change” just the greatest political hoaxes ever perpetrated on the American people?

All valid questions to be sure, the answers to which will profoundly affect the future of this great nation and its posterity.  Elections really do have consequences now don’t they???

Wake up America. We will not survive another Barack Obama.
